Screaming Power Engages University of Ottawa and IBM to Strengthen Security of Martin.ai Platform
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada — March 06, 2026 — Screaming Power Inc. today announced that it has engaged the University of Ottawa–IBM Cyber Range to deliver advanced cybersecurity testing for Martin.ai, the company’s artificial intelligence platform for automated energy data validation and optimization, as well as incident response simulations.
The security services are being delivered as part of the same Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI) Critical Industrial Technologies (CIT)–supported project previously announced by the company. The engagement includes application penetration testing, technical security simulations, and participation in the IBM X-Force Business Response Challenge, providing Screaming Power with hands-on evaluation of both technical controls and organizational readiness under realistic cyber attack scenarios.
Martin.ai is designed to automate the validation of complex utility billing, metering, and tariff data across Ontario’s energy ecosystem. As the platform advances toward production readiness under the OCI CIT program, Screaming Power has prioritized independent security testing to help ensure the platform meets the expectations of utilities, manufacturers, and public sector stakeholders handling sensitive energy and operational data.
“As Martin.ai moves from prototype to production, security and resilience are not optional — they are foundational. Working with the uOttawa-IBM Cyber Range allows us to rigorously test our application, our response processes, and our decision making under realistic conditions, well before broad deployment.”
— Gary Michor, CEO, Screaming Power Inc.
Through the uOttawa-IBM Cyber Range, Screaming Power will participate in structured security services that include:
- Technical penetration testing simulations conducted in a controlled cyber range environment
- The IBM X-Force Business Response Challenge, which simulates real world cyber incidents spanning technical, legal, and communications impacts, helping organizations identify gaps in incident response planning
These services are designed to expose potential weaknesses in a safe environment and support continuous improvement aligned with industry standards and real world threat scenarios.
The security work complements the OCI CIT Phase 2 project, which is advancing Martin.ai from a validated prototype to a production ready platform for use across multiple Ontario utilities and energy intensive organizations.
“As organizations increasingly rely on AI‑driven platforms to manage sensitive operational and energy data, rigorous security testing and preparedness are essential. Through the Cyber Range, we are working with Screaming Power to evaluate application‑level security and organizational response capabilities using realistic, hands‑on simulations. This approach helps organizations better understand potential vulnerabilities and strengthen their readiness in a controlled environment.”
— Dr. Vio Onut, Co‑Director of the uOttawa-IBM Cyber Range, University of Ottawa
